Saturated fat is linked to an increased risk of developing
heart diease; at Cardigan Lobster Suppers we take care
to limit saturated fats in our receipes. We use low fat
dairy products, no animal fats or processed fat products.
We also use monounsaturated oils in cooking(olive rape
seed) which help to lower blood cholesteral, and polyunsaturated
fats in fries which is known to provide protection against
heart disease.
We use only lean cuts of meat, frilled rather than fried.
Fish, of course, is known to be a heart friendly food.
Some cooking methods are much healthier than others; steaming
and cooking in water are the healthiest methods of cooking.
All our fish is steamed, broiled or cooked in water, rather
than oil.
Our Vegtables are cooked for as short a time as possible
to retain their vitamins, crunchiness and bite. Our homemade
Island recipes provide an important source of dietary fibre
and vitamins in your meal.
